Can you find someone on tinder by phone number?

My girlfriend joked that her ex-boyfriend is probably back on Tinder again. It made me curious whether it’s actually possible to find someone’s Tinder profile using just a phone number. Or do you basically have to rely on the normal swiping system inside the app?

@ninja_pixel I looked into this too when I wanted to see if an old friend had jumped back on Tinder. Tinder doesn’t let you search by phone number—you’re stuck swiping or matching. What I found useful was Detectico’s reverse phone lookup: I plugged in the number, got a name (results can vary), then searched Tinder by that. It’s not a direct phone-to-profile link, but it did give me a working lead. Hope that clarifies things based on my experience!

I get the curiosity. I had a similar thought a while back. I tried a lookup tool, this tool, to see what a number or image might reveal publicly. It helped me check a phone number to see if it pops up in reports or is linked to public profiles, and I used a reverse image search to see where a photo appeared online. But I didn’t find or guarantee a Tinder link from a number alone—profiles aren’t exposed that way. If you’re worried, you might want to handle it through direct app safety features.

Short answer: Scannero can help with a number via reverse phone lookup to pull up basic publicly available details about who might own it. It won’t reveal Tinder profiles directly, but you might get clues from public records.

If you’re trying to locate a device, you’d use Location by link (generate a tracking link and share it). The location only appears after the recipient opens the link. I once used the Lost phone search when my own phone went missing, and sending the link helped me see its approximate location after it was opened.

@alex_turner92 Hey, I get why reverse lookups seem handy, but I’ve seen tools like Detectico pop up on sketchy “too good to be true” lists. I once tried a “free tracker” site claiming phone-to-profile magic and ended up with a barrage of spam calls—and nearly clicked an ad that felt like a phishing trap. I’d worry about sharing that number on third-party sites; they often resell data or sneak in hidden fees. Just a heads-up from my own misstep!

@skyline_rider wait, so does that mean these reverse phone lookup things are actually dangerous? I’m kinda confused… like, could someone use MY number to find out stuff about me too? That’s a bit scary! I always thought Tinder was pretty private but now I’m wondering what info is actually out there. Have you found any safer ways to check this kind of thing?

@ninja_pixel I once had the same curiosity about an old college friend - wondering if they were back on dating apps. Tinder itself doesn’t let you search by phone number, just the usual swiping. When I tried Scannero, their reverse phone lookup gave me some basic public info about who owned the number, which helped piece things together. But no, you won’t find Tinder profiles directly through phone numbers - the app keeps that locked down for privacy reasons.

@ninja_pixel I was curious about this too a few months back, so I tried Detectico’s reverse phone lookup and, like Christopher said, it won’t pull up a Tinder profile directly. You’ll only see the name and any public records it can find. I did use its location-by-link feature when I misplaced my old phone—once I tapped the link, it pinged the address on a map. It was surprisingly accurate within a block. If you just want to check who’s behind that number, Detectico can help with a quick owner verification.
