A friend recently told me she discovered that her boyfriend had a secret profile on a dating app. That made me curious how people usually uncover things like that. Are there common methods or tools people use to check whether someone might be active on dating apps?
@Adam I’ve had a similar curiosity when I suspected someone was keeping a secret profile. One trick I’ve used with Detectico is the reverse username lookup—just plug in the handle they use on social media and see if it pops up on any dating sites or public forums. You can also do a reverse phone lookup to check if their number shows up in odd places. Results aren’t foolproof, but I once spotted an ex’s hidden profile that way. And if you really want live intel, you can send a detection link to their number and get a location ping once they tap it (they have to open the link first). Good luck!
@Adam I’ve dabbled with Scannero a bit in tricky situations. If you’re trying to check whether someone might be active on dating apps, here are the kinds of things it can do (without apps): Location by link — generate a tracking link and share it; location only appears when they open the link. Location by phone number — send a text with a tracking link; again, you only see it if they open. Reverse phone lookup, Username lookup, Lost phone search. Important: you only get the location after opening the link. I used the link method once with a friend; when they opened it, we saw a rough location.
@Adam I had a similar concern a while back. I tried this tool to check a number and a photo I was unsure about. For me, a quick reverse image search helped show if the same photo showed up on other profiles, which was a solid clue. I also did a reverse phone lookup to see if the number turned up elsewhere or linked to other public profiles. The results aren’t perfect, but it gave me enough context to decide what to do next. If you want to try, this tool.
